Watch Time Calculator
Enter a video length and a playback speed to see your real watch time and time saved. Switch to binge mode to add up a whole series of episodes.
How playback speed changes watch time
Watch time scales inversely with speed: at speed s, your real time is the original length ÷ s. So 2× halves it and 1.5× cuts it by a third. The faster you go, the more each extra increment saves — but with diminishing returns on comprehension.
real time = length ÷ speed
Binge mode for courses and series
Watching a 24-episode season or a 10-hour course? Binge mode multiplies a single episode length by the number of episodes, then applies your playback speed, so you can see the true commitment — and how many hours a higher speed gives back.
How to use this calculator
- Enter the length.
- Pick a playback speed.
- Toggle binge mode for multiple episodes.
- Read real watch time and time saved.

Frequently asked questions
How much time does 1.5× actually save?
Watching at 1.5× takes 1 ÷ 1.5 = 66.7% of the original time, saving one third. At 2× you halve the time.
Can I calculate a full course?
Yes — use binge mode to enter number of videos and average length, then apply your playback speed.
Does watching faster hurt comprehension?
For familiar or lecture-style content, many people retain well up to 1.5–2×. For dense new material, slow back down. Start at 1.25× and increase gradually.
How much time does 2× really save?
Exactly half. At 2× a 60-minute video takes 30 minutes. At 1.5× it takes 40 minutes (a third saved); at 1.25×, 48 minutes (a fifth saved).
